Exhibitions at RHS Harlow Carr

The New Year got off to a busy start here with preparations being made for my first event of the year with Just Makers at RHS Gardens Harlow Carr in Harrogate. Spring really is a great time of year to visit the gardens when all the Spring bulbs are emerging and the timing couldn't be better with some fantastic exhibitions of work on show from some very talented makers, all very ably overseen by the brilliant Deborah de Brunner. Deborah has been working hard to furnish the Bath House ready for all our work and we're all agreed that it looks fantastic!

The first event is now underway and you have until 22nd February to see it. It's entitled 'Let's Get Creative' and, as well as showcasing makers' work, there will a number of kits available for you to purchase and maybe have a go at some crafts yourself!

For some photos of the type of thing you can expect, head over to www.facebook.com/JustMakers.

On 24th February, a new exhibition begins with 'Handbags and Gladrags' - aimed at ladies and perfect for Mother's Day gifts. What better way to celebrate Mother's Day by taking Mum to RHS Harlow Carr for the day, taking in the Spring flowers, perusing all the gorgeous gifts at The Bath House and maybe even stopping for a cuppa and a slice of cake at Betty's Tea Rooms! Of course, I'm delighted to say my jewellery will be on display at this event and I'm looking forward to going in and helping out on 6th March, so do pop in and say hello!

For more updates and news of further exhibitions throughout the year, follow @justmakers or @inspiredscilly on Twitter or find us on Facebook!

Time flies!

Oops! I can't believe it's a year since I posted on this blog! I was just thinking about my holiday memories from this year's trip to Scilly and logged on to post a few pics only to find myself looking at those from last year... Still, it's great to be reminded of that holiday too! This year we were lucky enough to see the Red Arrows for the first time flying over the islands at the first Islands Regatta... Another first was seeing the new Pot Buoys Gallery (formerly the Bulb Shop) on St Agnes and getting to meet the lovely Emma who took over from Mandy Pearce. Emma has done an amazing job in revamping the shop into a gorgeous gallery and I'm very proud to have my jewellery there amongst so many talented artists and makers. Here are a few photos to give you a taste of the new gallery. So many gorgeous things to buy! My jewellery is hanging in the window in that lovely bauble! Emma is a very talented artist herself (you can buy her...

The Alien has Landed!

It's not quite finished but here is my completely crazy felt creation (from a previous post entitled 'Is that an alien on your head'.. in hat form. I need some nice matching felt to go on the underside to finish it off but I'm quite pleased so far. Now to find someone who would wear it! That could be trickier!! My favourite bit has to be the 'dreads' (an unusual alternative to feathers I think you'll agree) and beads - I guess it all looks a bit like seaweed in the water. It's hard to make out from the pic but there are some lovely coral and blue sparkly threads in the middle. (materials courtesy of my Mum with blue sewing thread from www.alteredelement.co.uk )

Scilly Crafts

We thought it was time we showed you a few of our favourite arty things. The first is this great new blog of handmade Scillonian work, some of which is available to purchase from the artists' websites. Check out http://www.phoenixcrafts.co.uk/blog.html and be dazzled by sparkling stained glass, stunning seascapes and perfect prints.
