Inspired: Scilly

This year I am delighted to once again have my jewellery for sale at The Bulb Shop on St Agnes in Scilly. Sadly for me, Adrian and Amanda Pearce who run the little shop are retiring after this season, but I'm quite sure that they have earned a happy retirement on the beautiful island that is their home. Anyone who knows me well will tell you how much I adore the Isles of Scilly ever since my first family holiday to those remote islands as a daydreaming teenager. It is little wonder that such a magical place caught my imagination and has drawn me back, year after year. So now that I've fulfilled my ambition to become a penniless 'something creative', what could possibly be better than to finally have my work on sale at one of the islands' best loved gift shops, The Bulb Shop on the tiny island of St Agnes. Once a stable for milking cows, The Bulb Shop later evolved to include a cold store for cooling precious scented narcissi blooms prior to packing for market, before becoming the treasure trove of crafts and creations that it is today. The Bulb Shop has something for everyone, including a variety of jewellery to suit all tastes and styles, from stunning silver to brightly coloured beach plastic and now, I'm delighted to say, my own quirky mix of Swarovski...

Happy New Year from Inspired: Scilly! I hope everyone had a restful Christmas. 2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for Inspired: Scilly! I have lots of craft markets lined up for the new year and am particularly hoping to extend my bridal range of jewellery in readiness for the Wedding season! Last weekend I attended my first wedding fayre at Fairfield Manor hotel in York and it was encouraging to see so many people take a genuine interest in unique, handmade items that give your big day a bespoke edge - after all, it's a pretty special occasion! New to the range is this gorgeous pearl, crystal and shell barrette Highlights of last year included attending a really helpful enterprise course with Princes Trust, learning to crochet (finally!) and, on a semi-creative side note, making sloe gin for the first time (it came out better than expected!) So here's to a fantastic 2013! I'm going a little bit luxe this year so look out for new ranges in 14k gold plate, sump...

So it's well and truly Autumn now but I've left Summer behind with a sense of contentment. This season is a great excuse to work with all those gorgeous Autumn colours that I love so much. Burgundy, amber, royal purple, rich browns and copper. So watch this space for some lovely autumn and winter designs coming soon and, dare I say it... Christmas... range of Swarovski Crystal Christmas Tree earrings. We have new colourways available this year so they should be even more popular! In the meantime, I have been making some stunning sterling silver wire and freshwater pearl stud earrings for a bridal customer in the US. I enjoyed making these so much that I plan to add the gorgeous pearl nest earrings to my sophisticated sterling silver range. Particularly popular with brides, they are also a great gift for Christmas or for dazzling your friends in the party season! At last, some sunshine! Not sure how long it will last but I am defintely making the most of it, even if that means knitting with wire at the garden table! With a couple of craft fairs in late August and September, there's plenty to do, especially as I've had a short time out with moving house and various other commitments!
