Holiday Memories (Part 2)

Island Hopping... St Martins - first stop, the bakery! ...followed by a picnic on the beach and a little sunbathing. I get a bit closer to my goal of actual swimming in the sea and manage a few seconds of doggy paddle before the cold is just too much... So I settle for paddling and a spontaneous fish pedicure, instead. Later that evening... warming up with Spanish tapas at Dibs! Keeping on the food theme... a trip to Tresco and a lovely lunch at Ruin Beach Cafe. Exploring Tresco Abbey Gardens... Another day, another island... This time the beautiful rugged coastline of St Agnes.   A quick stop at The Bulb Shop to say hello to Mandy and drop off some more of my jewellery. It's been selling well so I'll have earned my glass of wine at the Turks later!  Admiring the beautful stained glass windows at St Agnes church by the very talented Oriel Hicks. On to th...

On Sale in Scilly

This year I am delighted to once again have my jewellery for sale at The Bulb Shop on St Agnes in Scilly. Sadly for me, Adrian and Amanda Pearce who run the little shop are retiring after this season, but I'm quite sure that they have earned a happy retirement on the beautiful island that is their home. In the meantime, do pop in to The Bulb Shop if you are lucky enough to be visiting Scilly. St Agnes is utterly unspoilt and the shop is a real treasure trove! Here are a few of my pieces that are currently on sale in Scilly... Green and Gold Scilly Flora crochet wire bracelet (inspired by Bermuda Buttercups!) Inspired Scilly Jewellery..in Scilly!

Anyone who knows me well will tell you how much I adore the Isles of Scilly ever since my first family holiday to those remote islands as a daydreaming teenager. It is little wonder that such a magical place caught my imagination and has drawn me back, year after year. So now that I've fulfilled my ambition to become a penniless 'something creative', what could possibly be better than to finally have my work on sale at one of the islands' best loved gift shops, The Bulb Shop on the tiny island of St Agnes. Once a stable for milking cows, The Bulb Shop later evolved to include a cold store for cooling precious scented narcissi blooms prior to packing for market, before becoming the treasure trove of crafts and creations that it is today. The Bulb Shop has something for everyone, including a variety of jewellery to suit all tastes and styles, from stunning silver to brightly coloured beach plastic and now, I'm delighted to say, my own quirky mix of Swarovski...

St William's College Craft Fair

A few photos from the first Christmas craft fair of the year that I attended at St William's College in York. I'll be uploading more photos of my Swarovski Crystal Christmas Trees to this blog in due course but in the meantime, head over to my facebook page to have a look at the full range! A lovely new colour this year - light metallic gold. Knitted wire brooches adorned with crystals looking good on my lovely wicker pieces from Scilly Socks at the Porthloo Studios, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. Swarovski Crystal Christmas trees dazzling all the customers! Sold a brooch very similar to this one to a lovely Irish lady - love the colours which have a Christmas feel with the gold and silver and look quite vintage at the same time. Can you see the little crystal star? The following pictures are of the venue last weekend - the beautiful 15th century St William's College which was originally a school for Minster priests. We were lucky enough...

Loving Autumn

I like Autumn. Of course I'm sad when the summer is over but there is something special about Autumn. Apart from October being my birthday month, I love the fiery reds, coppers, ochre and cinnamon shades of the plants in my garden and the leaves on the trees. The garden wall is aflame with red Boston Ivy. There is a voluptuousness in Autumn's generosity as it fills the hedgerows with berries. Last year, after picking sloes, I was inspired to make this gorgeous little bracelet using some very round dark pearls which really reminded me of the sloe berries. The bush they come from is known as Blackthorn. This bracelet was featured recently in a lovely autumnal treasury - click here to view the treasury. Sloe Berry Bracelet My sparkly little brooches will be out on the stall at Christmas craft fairs this year and I now have a lovely new wicker bowl which I bought from the Scilly Socks shop at Porthloo on St Mary's in which to display my wares. The brooches really do l...

September in Scilly

So excited to be off to the Isles of Scilly again this week. I'm taking some pieces down to the islands to show a few craft shops, including these gorgeous starfish pendants/earrings which have proved popular among Facebook fans and make a great accessory to remind you of your holidays.  While I'm there, I'll also be gathering more inspiration for the new Autumn/Winter season. The Etsy shop willl be closed while I'm away but feel free to contact me at inspiredscilly@hotmail.co.uk and I will respond when I return in a couple of weeks time.

Feeling Nautical

A few of the most nautical (and nice!) pieces from my website... A gorgeous aqua blue brooch with sparkling Swarovski crystals and metallic finish seed beads. This brooch combines hand knitted silver wire with nautical acrylic beads and Swarovski crystal. Inspired by jetsam washed up on the beach, this knitted wire bracelet uses an assortment of beads that reflect sea washed plastic tangled up in net and seaweed.
