Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from Inspired: Scilly! I hope everyone had a restful Christmas. 2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for Inspired: Scilly! I have lots of craft markets lined up for the new year and am particularly hoping to extend my bridal range of jewellery in readiness for the Wedding season! Last weekend I attended my first wedding fayre at Fairfield Manor hotel in York and it was encouraging to see so many people take a genuine interest in unique, handmade items that give your big day a bespoke edge - after all, it's a pretty special occasion! Highlights of last year included attending a really helpful enterprise course with Princes Trust, learning to crochet (finally!) and, on a semi-creative side note, making sloe gin for the first time (it came out better than expected!) So here's to a fantastic 2013! I'm going a little bit luxe this year so look out for new ranges in 14k gold plate, sumptuous shell pieces for beachy bling and Swarovski crystal brooches!

Time flies!

Oops! I can't believe it's a year since I posted on this blog! I was just thinking about my holiday memories from this year's trip to Scilly and logged on to post a few pics only to find myself looking at those from last year... Still, it's great to be reminded of that holiday too! This year we were lucky enough to see the Red Arrows for the first time flying over the islands at the first Islands Regatta... Another first was seeing the new Pot Buoys Gallery (formerly the Bulb Shop) on St Agnes and getting to meet the lovely Emma who took over from Mandy Pearce. Emma has done an amazing job in revamping the shop into a gorgeous gallery and I'm very proud to have my jewellery there amongst so many talented artists and makers. The Alien has Landed!

It's not quite finished but here is my completely crazy felt creation (from a previous post entitled 'Is that an alien on your head'.. in hat form. I need some nice matching felt to go on the underside to finish it off but I'm quite pleased so far. Now to find someone who would wear it! That could be trickier!! My favourite bit has to be the 'dreads' (an unusual alternative to feathers I think you'll agree) and beads - I guess it all looks a bit like seaweed in the water.
