St William's College Craft Fair

A few photos from the first Christmas craft fair of the year that I attended at St William's College in York. I'll be uploading more photos of my Swarovski Crystal Christmas Trees to this blog in due course but in the meantime, head over to my facebook page to have a look at the full range! A lovely new colour this year - light metallic gold. Knitted wire brooches adorned with crystals looking good on my lovely wicker pieces from Scilly Socks at the Porthloo Studios, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. Swarovski Crystal Christmas trees dazzling all the customers! Sold a brooch very similar to this one to a lovely Irish lady - love the colours which have a Christmas feel with the gold and silver and look quite vintage at the same time. Can you see the little crystal star? The following pictures are of the venue last weekend - the beautiful 15th century St William's College which was originally a school for Minster priests. We were lucky enough...

Loving Autumn

I like Autumn. Of course I'm sad when the summer is over but there is something special about Autumn. Apart from October being my birthday month, I love the fiery reds, coppers, ochre and cinnamon shades of the plants in my garden and the leaves on the trees. The garden wall is aflame with red Boston Ivy. There is a voluptuousness in Autumn's generosity as it fills the hedgerows with berries. Last year, after picking sloes, I was inspired to make this gorgeous little bracelet using some very round dark pearls which really reminded me of the sloe berries. The bush they come from is known as Blackthorn. This bracelet was featured recently in a lovely autumnal treasury - click here to view the treasury. Sloe Berry Bracelet My sparkly little brooches will be out on the stall at Christmas craft fairs this year and I now have a lovely new wicker bowl which I bought from the Scilly Socks shop at Porthloo on St Mary's in which to display my wares. The brooches really do l...

September in Scilly

So excited to be off to the Isles of Scilly again this week. I'm taking some pieces down to the islands to show a few craft shops, including these gorgeous starfish pendants/earrings which have proved popular among Facebook fans and make a great accessory to remind you of your holidays.  While I'm there, I'll also be gathering more inspiration for the new Autumn/Winter season. The Etsy shop willl be closed while I'm away but feel free to contact me at inspiredscilly@hotmail.co.uk and I will respond when I return in a couple of weeks time.

A Little Bird Told Me...

Spring has sprung! The Scilly scented narcissi have bloomed, the tulips are on their way and I've even seen a few butterflies!    Just this week I've also noticed a lot of birds around; a barn owl, a pair of buzzards and of course several garden birds who have been investigating our bird box in the garden... Let's hope someone takes up this lovely new 'des res'! This inspired me to make a nest treasury on Etsy celebrating all things birdy! Click here to view it! On the subject of nests, I've also been dabbling in a little crochet - here's a preview of my crochet pearl nest earrings. Hope you like them!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from Inspired: Scilly! I hope everyone had a restful Christmas. 2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for Inspired: Scilly! I have lots of craft markets lined up for the new year and am particularly hoping to extend my bridal range of jewellery in readiness for the Wedding season! Last weekend I attended my first wedding fayre at Fairfield Manor hotel in York and it was encouraging to see so many people take a genuine interest in unique, handmade items that give your big day a bespoke edge - after all, it's a pretty special occasion! New to the range is this gorgeous pearl, crystal and shell barrette Highlights of last year included attending a really helpful enterprise course with Princes Trust, learning to crochet (finally!) and, on a semi-creative side note, making sloe gin for the first time (it came out better than expected!) So here's to a fantastic 2013! I'm going a little bit luxe this year so look out for new ranges in 14k gold plate, sump...
